Architecture

A considered approach

Our residential work is rooted in an understanding of existing buildings, their history and their surroundings. We design thoughtful extensions, alterations, renovations and new homes that allow buildings to evolve while retaining the qualities that make them distinctive.

We work across a range of residential projects throughout Yorkshire and the North of England. Our approach is practical and considered, combining architectural quality with a detailed understanding of planning, conservation and construction.

We work closely with our clients from the earliest ideas through to completion, whether creating something entirely new or carefully adapting what already exists, our aim is to make places that are considered, enduring and distinctive to their setting.

Conservation

Respectful adaptation

We believe the best conservation work is felt rather than seen. Every historic building carries the evidence of its own history, its materials, its alterations, the way it has been used and loved over time. Our role is to understand that evidence before we touch it. We adapt buildings to meet the demands of modern use, but always in a way that respects the existing fabric and the character of the place around it.

Change is inevitable and often necessary for a building's survival; the skill lies in making that change sit comfortably alongside what came before, so the building's story continues rather than being interrupted. Working closely with clients, custodians and conservation officers, we aim for interventions that are honest, sensitive, and built to last.

Heritage Consultancy

Informed decisions for historic building

Unlocking the potential of a historic building begins with understanding it. Our consultancy team investigates what gives a place its significance, its history, its construction, and its value to the people who use it, and sets out clear, practical guidance for how it can adapt.

We provide rigorous, well-evidenced reporting to support planning applications, secure funding, and guide decision-making, working closely with conservation officers and communities throughout.

Whether alongside our own architects or a client's chosen team, we shape heritage strategies that respect what already exists, while making meaningful change possible.
