With winter (almost) behind us, quinquennial inspection (QI) season is officially underway…

........and that can only mean one thing: our Ecclesiastical team’s diaries are about to get very full! Meanwhile, the admin team prepares for a busy spell of planning, coordination, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

Across church buildings of all denominations and traditions, these inspections are a vital part of caring for our shared heritage. From parish churches and chapels to meeting houses, cathedrals, and more contemporary places of worship, QIs are carried out every five years to assess condition, identify repairs, and help ensure these important buildings continue to serve their communities for generations to come.

Our Ecclesiastical team has over 40 inspections lined up this year, so it’s hard hats on, ladders at the ready, and plenty of tea along the way. Leading the charge is Practice Partner and AABC Accredited Conservation Architect Alexa Stephens, whose expert eye will be busier than ever.

Here’s to a season of creaky ladders, winding staircases and the occasional “how did we get up here?” moment - all in the service of caring for a wonderfully diverse range of church buildings.
