Preserving historic Churches - St Michael's Crambe

Preserving our historic churches is about more than repairing old buildings – it's about protecting the craftsmanship and character that make them so special.

We're proud to have been involved in the chancel repair works at St Michael's Church, Crambe, providing services to help ensure this important heritage building can be enjoyed for future generations.

The chancel had previously been pointed with a mixture of mortars including some cementitious which were trapping moisture and causing damage to the historic walls.

The entire chancel was repointed internally with a lime mortar to prevent further deterioration of the stone. Externally, localised repairs and redecoration were carried out to the window ferramenta, door and rainwater goods. To improve internal ventilation, we also integrated discrete stainless steel mesh quarries into the chancel windows.

Projects like this demonstrate the value of specialist historic building conservation, combining traditional materials with skilled craftsmanship to safeguard our architectural heritage.
