Alex Williams leaves us shortly to do a spot of travelling prior to returning to Loughborough University this September to complete his Part 1 BArch Undergraduate Degree.
His contribution to the Practice during his placement year has been outstanding and he has supported the teams with his knowledge, enthusiasm and a ’can do’ attitude that’s been invaluable. Of particular note are Alex’s skills in AutoCad, hand sketches and digital renders.
Alex sums up his year with us:
“The beginning of my placement at PBA was a mix of apprehension and excitement. Transitioning from a student to a full-time architectural assistant felt like a significant milestone in my career journey. The concepts and theories I had learned during my first 2 years at university were suddenly put to the test in real-world scenarios.
Throughout the year, every member of PBA has been incredibly encouraging and supportive, exposing me to a wide range of projects ranging from ecclesiastical to healthcare. This experience has sharpened my architectural skills in AutoCAD and allowed me to showcase my artistic talents whenever possible, whether this be hand drawings to digital renders. I've learned something new every day, from technical details to project fees to small marketing strategies. I genuinely feel like I've been a valuable member of the team and have tried to embrace new challenges with enthusiasm.
My year at PBA has been a super foundation year that has prepared me for the next steps in my university career, for which I am deeply grateful. My Uni follows a unique structure with a sandwich placement year between the second and third years which I think is extremely valuable. I'm excited about the future and ready to embrace upcoming projects with the knowledge, experience, and newfound confidence I have gained over the past year”.
Please join us in wishing Alex every success in the future!
