Our ecclesiastical conservation team completed the re-roofing of the Chancel at St Mary’s Church in Whitby, North Yorkshire, located near the historic Whitby Abbey.
Working closely with a specialist handmade clay tile manufacturer, new tiles were commissioned to closely match the original roof materials. New lead detailing was designed, which may not look different but is improving waterproofing.
The result is a fully watertight and durable roof, designed to protect the church for the next 100 years, while remaining true to its architectural heritage
