Introducing new team member Maria Wood

We are pleased to welcome Maria Wood to the PBA team. Maria joins us as a Part 1 student and will be assisting around the office and on site visits; gaining invaluable experience of how a professional architectural studio works.

“I have recently graduated from Sheffield School of Architecture where I have designed a range of civic and cultural buildings, with a particular interest in the social effects of architecture. My dissertation explored the impacts of urban planning and transport systems on the way people use and move through and around cities, and the way urban regeneration can be used to improve the experience. I have also enjoyed studying community lead regeneration and social architecture and find using my own knowledge and experiences working with the public as a dance teacher and outdoor education instructor highly beneficial in being able to relate and empathise with the users of these types of buildings.”

“Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, exploring new places and learning about history. I love to travel, and solo travelled the USA in Summer 2019, seeing a range of architectural masterpieces. I also have a passion for theatre and music, and I’m itching to get back into a theatre after COVID restrictions lift.”
