A New Lease of Life for a Leeds Historic House

Pearce Bottomley are acting as Architects on the restoration and conversion of the Grade II* listed house and Historical Design Consultants for Round Strategies Ltd on the new build terrace.

Spenfield House is one of the finest examples of a mid-Victorian mansion in Leeds by the Architect, George Corson. It includes steeply pitched roofs, stone bays with a central rooflight over a fine quality stairwell and decorative tiling. There are original quality decorated floors, walls and ceilings all of which are retained within the scheme.

The conversion of the original house includes the restoration of the central hall and Peacock Room along with tiled areas throughout. The generous apartments are all finished to a high standard incorporating the original historic fireplaces and fabric.

The new housing is a sweeping timber framed terrace of modern townhouses designed to complement and enhance the setting of the original house within a former car park at the rear of the site. Working in collaboration with ArkleBoyce architects for the delivery of the project, the high quality scheme is unashamedly contemporary and offers a pleasing aspect and counterbalance to the Victorian mansion.
