This housing estate is built on a redundant farm yard in the village of Aberford
near Leeds. This development involved the master planning and delivery of twenty,
3 to 5 bedroom dwellings with garages and gardens on a tight and constraining
site.
The development included the refurbishment of the existing farm house and the
conversion of several stone barns. The new build dwellings were carefully designed
to complement the local context and be in keeping within the surrounding conservation
area and green belt policies. Built from timber frames and encased in stone, this
houses form terraces of cottages and town houses which form a private courtyard
and serene environment. With stunning views over the Parlington Estate, the properties
quickly became the sought after for the ideal location and contemporary living.
The project was completed to a high standard and has provided safe family homes
within the thriving village. The flexible design has allowed different families
to alter their homes and create a unique layout to suit their needs. Careful planning
of the structure and openings allows a developer to offer many different layouts
on the same house footprint.
The South Lodge Farm development has blended in well and become an integral part
of the village. The modern design and affordable construction has allowed families
to live in the village and become part of the community.
