The project was one of three buildings in Tranche 1 of the Barnsley NHS LIFT development programme and comprised the construction of a new two storey building on the existing council offices site close to the town centre.

 

The centre was developed to coordinate healthcare provision in Goldthorpe and brought together four G.P. Practices, a Pharmacy, Local Authority facilities and PCT facilities including Physiotherapy, Audiology and Podiatry into the same building.  This significantly improved primary care in Goldthorpe by providing enhanced therapy and clinical facilities in a quality environment.

 

The building is arranged in zones with all public accessible spaces on the ground floor and staff spaces on the first floor.  A main central reception area on the ground floor leads to the G.P. Clinical Suites, PCT Treatment Suites, Therapy Suites and other specialist services.  A large multi purpose space is available for sessional use such as baby clinics and can be segregated for use out of hours.

 

The project was carried out on a partnering basis using steel frame and masonry construction.
